Larsen, who will be participating in this year's "Women in Music Festival" at the University's Eastman School of Music, has been described as one of America's most prolific and most performed living composers. She has written more than 220 works ranging from intimate vocal and chamber music to massive orchestral and choral scores. She won a Grammy award in 1994 as producer of the CD The Art of Arlene Auger, and her opera Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus was selected as one of the eight best classical music events of 1990 by USA Today. Larsen co-founded the Minnesota Composers Forum, now the American Composers Forum, and is working on a book, The Concert Hall That Fell Asleep and Woke Up as a Car Radio.
