Economic theorist Ariel Rubinstein, who holds the Salzberg Chair in the Department of Economics at Tel Aviv University and is professor of economics at New York University, will deliver this year's McKenzie Lecture on "The Economics of the Jungle: Comments on the Way We Teach Economics."

Rubinstein is a fellow of The Econometric Society and served as its president in 2004. He has held editorial positions at numerous economics journals, and is the author of several books and more than 70 articles. His most recent book, Lecture Notes in Microeconomic Theory (Princeton University Press, 2006), is a collection of material from his well-known course in microeconomic theory. Rubinstein has taught it for 15 years to first-year graduate students at Tel Aviv, Princeton, and New York universities.

Annually, graduate students in the Department of Economics at the University of Rochester select an outstanding scholar to deliver this lecture in honor of Lionel McKenzie, Wilson Professor Emeritus of Economics.
