Born in 1974, Dairay started studying music when he was six years old and began to play the carillon when he was 10. He graduated from the Jef Denyn Royal Carillon School in Belgium with highest honors in 2004. Dairay has performed in Russia, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Switzerland, and has won several international carillon competitions. In Rochester, his program will include original compositions for the carillon as well as works by Vivaldi, Couperin, and other classical and popular composers that have been specially arranged for the carillon.
Concertgoers should bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and even a book to read and can sit anywhere on the Eastman Quadrangle in front of the library to enjoy the music. For more information, contact (585) 275-2828.
