The call is out for teams of competitors and volunteers to participate in this year's College Bowl competition on campus.

Any students, organized in a team with a minimum of three and a maximum of five students, one of whom can be a graduate student, can compete. Faculty and staff who wish to participate as volunteers in the competition are also needed.

Popularized by radio and television broadcasts in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, the College Bowl competition centers around the academic trivia questions posed to teams of students. Topics range from science to culture, literature, and current events. Since its inception, students from more than 300 institutions have enjoyed this fun and exciting learning tradition.

The campus tournament will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Wilson Commons on the River Campus and the regional tournament, held in Syracuse, will take place on Feb. 23 to 25, 2007. Last year's University of Rochester team placed second in the regional competition.

Team registration forms are available at The Common Market in Wilson Commons on the University of Rochester's River Campus. The deadline for registration forms and a $10 team fee to be returned to the Common Market is noon Monday, Nov. 6. In addition, anyone interested in volunteering for the campus tournament should contact Laura Ballou, assistant director of student activities, at (585) 275-2332 or laura.ballou@rochester.edu.
