The panel discussion, featuring some of Rochester's youngest elected officials, will explore the path into politics and the necessity of young people's participation in the democratic process. Participants include City Councilman Adam McFadden, Democratic City Court Judge candidate and 1990 graduate of the University Maija Dixon, County Legislator Carrie Andrews, and Rochester City School Board vice president Malik Evans, a 2002 graduate of the University.
The panel will be moderated by Fredrick Harris, professor of political science and director of the Center for the Study of African-American Politics and the Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies.
The discussion is the last event of the month-long initiative to raise voter awareness titled "Raise Your Voice! A Voteless People is a Hopeless People" and sponsored by the Black Students' Union at the University of Rochester and the Mu Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
