Two Rochester business leaders-Richard T. Aab and Robert H. Hurlbut-are joining the University of Rochester's Board of Trustees.

Aab is chairman of US LEC Corp., a telecommunications company with headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. Prior to founding that company, he was founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of ACC Corp., a Rochester telecommunications services company subsequently acquired by AT&T. Aab and his family helped to establish a new research institute, now named the Aab Institute of Biomedical Sciences, at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Aab has served on the Medical Center Board and on the University's Technology Transfer Advisory Board.

Hurlbut is the president of Hurlbut Trust, which offers financial and consulting services for health care facilities and rental properties. Also a member of the Medical Center Board, he is the founder of Vari-Care, Inc., which operated 24 long-term health facilities in several states and is now part of Living Centers of America. Hurlbut serves as a commissioner of the New York State Insurance Fund.
