Energy is arguably the most important economic and environmental issue of our time. Ebenhack proposes that it is a fundamental justice issue as well. While more and more Americans foresee a coming energy crisis, half of the world already is experiencing a crisis, including a majority of Africans. This presentation will examine what energy equity would look like—if everyone on the planet had access to comparable amounts of energy—and challenge listeners to find ways to move toward energy equity.
Ebenhack, chairman of the board of directors for the AHEAD Energy Corporation and principal investigator for the AHEAD Energy Project, has spent the last 19 years investigating the impending global energy transition.
Ebenhack serves on the executive committee of the University's Energy Working Group, and on the steering committee of the University's Sustainability Roundtable. Prior to coming to the University of Rochester, Ebenhack worked for 12 years for Union Oil Company of California (UNOCAL).
