Health care professionals will provide information on specific concerns related to black and Latino health issues in this free day-long event that is open to the community.

Workshops on topics such as lead poisoning, violence, heart disease, depression, and health insurance will be offered beginning at 10:30 a.m. Health advocates and representatives from local health care agencies will offer disease testing and information on treatment and prevention during the health fair, which starts at 11 a.m. Participating groups include the Rochester Area Task Force on AIDS, Black Men Latino Men Health Crisis, Men of Color Health Awareness Project, AIDS Community Health Center, Planned Parenthood, the Coalition Again Lead Poisoning, the Rochester Police Department, MetLife, the American Heart Association, Soul Fitness, the University's School of Nursing, and the Department of Psychiatry at the University's Medical Center.

Registration for "UR Path to Better Health" begins at 9 a.m. Performance groups from the University of Rochester and local high schools will provide entertainment from noon to 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available during the day.

The health exposition is sponsored by the Black Students' Union and the Omega Chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc., as part of Black History Month.
