Joseph Loewenstein, professor of English at the University of Washington at St. Louis, will deliver the George H. Ford Visiting Scholars Lecture on "Forms in Wax: Accessorizing the Renaissance." The topic grows from his current study of the material props of the "Self in Early Modern England"—spectacles, watches, commonplace books, signet rings, and poems.

He is the author of The Author's Due (2002) and Jonson and Possessive Authorship (2002), and is currently working on an edition of the Complete Works of Edmund Spenser for Oxford University Press. Loewenstein's research interests include Renaissance literature, Shakespeare, and cultural relations.
