Comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer will be performing at 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, in the May Room of Wilson Commons on the University of Rochester River Campus.

Westenhoefer is known for her fresh and provocative style. She began her career after winning a comedy contest and continued playing in theaters, clubs, and colleges. Westenhoefer then appeared as a guest on the Sally Jesse Raphael talk show on an episode called "Lesbians Who Don't Look Like Lesbians." She now travels throughout the country, performing over 100 live comedy appearances a year to sell-out crowds. Westenhoefer has also been seen on her own HBO comedy special, which was nominated for a Cable Ace award, as well as on Comedy Central, and in other film and television work.

Westenhoefer has received two Gay and Lesbian American Music Awards for her best-selling compact discs "Nothing in My Closet But My Clothes" and "I'm Not Cindy Brady," as well as a GLAAD media award nomination for her work in theatrical production. She is currently working on an HBO special titled "Tour de Femme!"

The local performance is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Friends Association (GLBFA). Admission is $3 for University students and $5 for the general public.
