WHO: The University of Rochester's "home team" of authors and professors in the Department of English will read from their own works in the first Plutzik Series Reading.
Professor Jennifer Grotz is the author of Cusp, a winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason Poetry Prize. Her poems, reviews, and translations from the French and Polish have appeared widely in journals and anthologies.
Professor James Longenbach is the author of four books of poems, most recently Draft of a Letter and the forthcoming Island. His poems and reviews of contemporary poetry appear regularly in The New Yorker and The New York Times Book Review.
Professor Stephen Schottenfeld recently completed a story collection, Miss Ellen Jameson Is Not Deceased, and is currently writing a novel set in Memphis.
Professor Joanna Scott is the author of 10 books, including Manikin, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Her latest novel, Follow Me, was published in 2009.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Lander Auditorium in Hutchison Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
WHAT: The Plutzik Reading Series was established in 1962 to honor the work of Hyam Plutzik, a distinguished poet and Deane Professor of Poetry and Rhetoric at the University.
PARKING: After 4 p.m. visitors to River Campus can purchase one-day permits at the River Campus Information Booth for a reduced fee of $2.
