WHAT: The Brass Choir will perform the first annual Halloween-themed concert "Spooktacular." This free musical event is for the whole family and features some scary, spooky, and downright wacky brass arrangements.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at Strong Auditorium at the University of Rochester's River Campus. This concert is free and open to the public.
DETAILS: The concert features a massed tuba ensemble, a collection of euphonium and tuba players, who will join the Brass Choir in performing a few selections, including a world-premiere arrangement of "Big Bottom," a song made famous by the fictitious rock group Spinal Tap. The program also includes the Final Fantasy score "One-Winged Angel" by Nobuo Uematsu; "Kraken" by Chris Hazell; "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter; and "Elected" by Alice Cooper.
The Brass Choir, directed by Josef M. Hanson, is comprised of University students on trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, and tubas. The massed tuba ensemble consists of area alumni, local high school and college students; and active brass musicians from the Rochester community.
PARKING: After 7 p.m., visitors to the River Campus can park for free.
