Rochester, N.Y. –Experts from one of the country's leading research universities can now provide, on short notice, commentary on timely and relevant news stories for journalists seeking live or taped broadcast interviews. The University of Rochester's newly commissioned broadcast studio with VideoLink ReadyCam® technology allows the media quick, easy access to some of the nation's leaders in science, business, medicine, music and the arts, as well as many other fields.

Television producers and reporters will now have a way to reach the University's experts to discuss trends, developments in education, and weigh in on the historical context of modern day discoveries and events.

The University of Rochester's College, School of Arts and Sciences, and Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences are complemented by the Eastman School of Music, Simon School of Business, Warner School of Education, Laboratory for Laser Energetics, Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and the Memorial Art Gallery.

The studio was made possible by a grant from James S. Gleason and the Gleason Foundation. Gleason is chairman of Gleason Corporation and chairman of the Gleason Foundation, a Life Trustee of the University of Rochester, a 1968 graduate of the Simon School's Executive MBA Program, and a member of the Simon School Executive Advisory Committee. The creation of the broadcast studio was led in part by the Simon School; Arts, Sciences and Engineering; and the University of Rochester Medical Center, one of the nation's top academic medical centers and centerpiece of the University's health research, teaching, patient care, and community outreach missions.

The broadcast studio is equipped with a broadcast lighting grid and VideoLink's ReadyCam® technology, made available through a satellite uplink service provided by WXXI-TV in Rochester, NY. A robotic camera inside the university studio is operated remotely from VideoLink's broadcast center, in Newton, Mass. Technical coordinates for down linking live shots are provided by VideoLink at the time of booking.
