Civil Rights Leader to Present Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address

WHO: Reverend Dr. Joseph Lowery, a prominent leader in the civil rights movement, will deliver the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address at the University of Rochester.

PRESS OPPORTUNITY: A press conference with Lowery will be held from 3 to 3:50 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, in the Welles-Brown Room of Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

COMMEMORATIVE ADDRESS: 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, Strong Auditorium.

WHAT: The culmination of a week-long celebration of Dr. King's life, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address is sponsored by the College Diversity Roundtable and the Office of the President. Lowery, dubbed the "Dean of the Civil Rights Movement" by the NAACP, has spent more than half a century making significant contributions to social justice.

PARKING: Visitors may park in the Library Lot, located on Library Road behind Rush Rhees Library and should pick up parking tokens and hang tags at the Parking Booth on Wilson Boulevard to gain access into the lot.
