Peter Spina, president and CEO of Monroe Community College, will teach two classes in 1995 at the University of Rochester's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
One of them, "The College and University Presidency," will be offered from June 26 to July 20 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The other, "New Developments in Higher Education Administration," will be offered Tuesday evenings during the fall term. In addition to teaching classes, Spina will advise graduate students in education about career plans, and may give a presentation at the Warner School.
Spina, who has headed MCC since 1982, presides over the largest community college in upstate New York. It enrolls some 32,000 students for credit and 20,000 non-credit students each year and has an operating budget of $65 million. Spina also has helped plan, develop, and manage a $70 million campus expansion.
He serves on the boards of several community service organizations, including High Technology of Rochester, Inc., United Way of Rochester, YMCA, and the Greater Rochester Metro Chamber of Commerce, as well as on boards of private companies.
He was named Best Chief Executive Officer for the Northeast Region, 1992, by the Association of Community College Trustees, and was designated as one of 50 national transformational community college leaders by a 1989 University of Texas Study.
