WHO: The University of Rochester's annual Yellowjacket Weekend kicks off the fall semester with a stand-up show by Comedy Central writer and comedian John Oliver.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus.

WHAT: John Oliver has been a writer and correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart since 2006. Premiering in January 2010, Oliver hosted his own six-episode series for Comedy Central, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, where he performed along side some of his favorite comedians.

Oliver has had multiple Writers Guild and Emmy nominations for his writing on The Daily Show, and in 2009 won the Emmy Award for best comedy writing in a comedy or variety series.

Tickets are $7 for University of Rochester undergraduates (with I.D.) and $25 for the general public. Tickets go on sale for students beginning Aug. 27 and will be available to the general public on Aug. 30; they can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons and online at www.urochestertickets.com. The event is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board.
