Tuition for University of Rochester undergraduates in the College and for freshman and sophomore Eastman School of Music students will increase 4 percent for the coming academic year from $39,480 to $41,040.
The term bill of tuition, room, and board will grow a total of 4 percent from $51,120 to $53,160 for the 2011-12 year.
"We remain vigilant about expenditures across the University while we continue to deliver the highest educational quality for our students," said University President Joel Seligman. "The slow economic growth nationally remains a burden to families dealing with the financial downturn."
For the coming year, the College has increased its commitment to student financial aid by 4 percent to
$76.6 million.
Eastman School juniors and seniors also will see a 4 percent tuition increase to $39,490 and $38,050, respectively, because of tuition rate changes since they enrolled.
At the University's professional schools, the tuition rates for 2011-12 will be: $43,100 for the School of Medicine and Dentistry, a 4.1 percent increase; $53,390 for the three-semester accelerated program at the School of Nursing, a 4 percent increase; $45,180 for the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, a 5 percent increase; and $36,992 for the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, a 3.9 percent increase.
The University Board of Trustees approved the tuition rates for all schools at its March meeting.
