WHAT: Presented by the University of Rochester's College Music Department, the 2nd annual Day of Brass allows local brass musicians —high school students, college students, and adult players alike—to come together to play brass music.

The all-day event will include free workshops on jazz improvisation, do-it-yourself instrument care, and maintenance, a session on the history of brass, and a final concert of brass players. There are also special performances by the University of Rochester Stingers Trombone Ensemble and the 198 Army Reserve Band Brass Quintet.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 9a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at the Alumni and Advancement Center located at 300 East River Road, across Interstate 390 from the University of Rochester Medical Center. A schedule of the day's events can be found on http://www.rochester.edu/College/MUR/news/.

All events are free and open to the public. The final concert at 3 p.m. will feature a festival brass ensemble of students, faculty, and guests.

PARKING: Free parking is available in the lots behind the Alumni and Advancement Center. Once you've parked behind the building, enter through Door A and follow the signs that lead upstairs to the auditorium.
