Current Guinness Record Stands at 853 Side-by-Side Tortillas

WHO: Undergraduates at the University of Rochester are adopting Taco Bell's famous slogan and thinking "outside the bun" as they seek to break Michigan State University's current Guinness record by lining up more than 853 edible tacos to create the World's Longest Line of Tacos.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Hirst Lounge of Wilson Commons. More than 30 students and staff will build the taco line from 11:30 a.m. to noon, official measurement of the number of tacos and length of the line will take place from noon to 12:30 p.m., and members of the University community are invited to stay for lunch at 12:30 p.m.

WHAT: Sponsored by the 2013 Class Council, students at Rochester will line up more than 853 soft taco shells, side-by-side, and fill them with all the traditional taco toppings including meat, beans, lettuce, and tomato (with sour cream and salsa on the side), to create the world's longest line of tacos.

To break the record, the taco shells must be in a single line, with the edges of each taco touching the next one in line. Each tortilla must have a minimum of one filling and must be entirely edible. The shells, along with all of the toppings, are compliments of Aramark, the University's food service provider.
