A statement from Joel Seligman, president of the University of Rochester, on today's announcement of state funding for I-390/Kendrick Road Interchange Project:

"I applaud Governor Cuomo for his support for the I-390/Kendrick Road Interchange project and his commitment of $26 million in funding for this year. The Governor's decisive leadership has been vital to moving this transformational project forward. For his leadership and his vision for a stronger, better New York, I am deeply grateful.

"By increasing capacity, easing congestion, and improving safety, the I-390 project will remove a major bottleneck in the current transportation network and significantly contribute to the region's economic revitalization. It will enable the University of Rochester to create literally thousands of jobs and strengthen our position as one of the leading research universities of the 21st century.

"I want to especially thank Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy, Assemblyman David Gantt, Assemblyman Joseph Morelle and the other members of our state delegation, and Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald for their leadership in advocating this project as one of the region's highest infrastructure priorities."
