A tribute to Susan B. Anthony and presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to neonatal specialist Dr. Ruth Lawrence will highlight a dinner at the University of Rochester Thursday, Feb. 12 celebrating women's achievements.

The Susan B. Anthony University Center will also present a narrated slide show of photographs and mementos culled from the University's extensive collection of Anthony's papers. The suffragist pledged her own insurance policy to raise the final dollars stipulated by University trustees to finance the admission of women to the school in 1900.

Lawrence, a University of Rochester School of Medicine alumna and an internationally recognized expert in neonatal care, will be honored with the Center's second annual Lifetime Achievement Award. Three outstanding female students also will be cited for their accomplishments. Anastasia Hubbard will receive the Susan B. Anthony Prize; Kristin Dowell will be presented the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship; and Hadijatou Jarra is the recipient of the Fannie R. Bigelow Scholarship. In addition, the University's female a cappella group, Vocal Point, will perform.

The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in Susan B. Anthony Halls on the River Campus. Tickets for the public are $20 and can be ordered by calling (585) 275-8799 by Feb. 6. University of Rochester student tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons.

The dinner, which celebrates Anthony's birthday three days early, is sponsored by the Center, the University's Women's Club, the Alumni Association of the University, and the American Association of University Women of Greater Rochester.

The Susan B. Anthony Center was established in 1995 to educate the University and surrounding community about women's achievements with programs and events about careers, education, public policy, health care, business and women in sports.
