The Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Studies at the University of Rochester has appointed two Rockefeller Foundation Humanities Fellows in Feminism and Visual Culture for 1994-95.

Elizabeth Hadley Freydberg, an assistant professor in African-American studies and in the theater department at Northeastern University, plans to write a film script on Bessie Coleman, a 1920s aviator. Her book on Coleman was published this year.

Harryette Mullen, a writer, critic, and assistant professor of English at Cornell University, will explore the role of writing in cultures traditionally regarded as visual.

The Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Studies addresses issues important for understanding the role of women in society. Nearly 90 faculty associates teach and do research through the Center. Named to honor the 19th-century suffragist, the Center also is active in planning the upcoming national celebration of the 75th anniversary of women's suffrage.
