As part of the Dance Program's Performing Artist Series, Claire Porter, choreographer and dancer, will be coming to the University of Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 19, with her humorous renditions of everyday characters.

Beginning at 8 p.m., the audience will be entertained by Porter's masterful combinations of movement and comedy. Wilma Salisbury of The Plain Dealer says of Porter: "Refreshingly original, she creates amusing vignettes that are uniquely her own. Each miniature piece is presented with clarity, control, and a hint of exaggeration that brings out the humor in the simple movements."

Porter's work has been performed in New York City by Dance Theater Workshop, The Warren Street Performance Loft, and The New Theater of Brooklyn, as well as in the Netherlands at the Holland Festival and in Germany and in Korea.

In addition to Porter, the Performing Artist Series will host the dance and performance group Freefall on Saturday, March 18; Turkish singer/composer Latif Bolat on Friday, April 7; and musician/performance artist Robert Een, who has composed for film, dance, and theater shows, on Saturday, April 15.

The cost for a series subscription is $20, but admission to one event is $7. For more information, call the Dance Program at 273-
