WHO: More than 1,400 freshmen comprising University of Rochester's Class of 2017 will move into five residential halls on the River Campus and Eastman School of Music's downtown Eastman Commons Student Living Center in anticipation of the new academic year.

RIVER CAMPUS MOVE-IN: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Susan B. Anthony Residence Hall (off of Library Road) and the Quad residence hall buildings (Lovejoy, Tiernan, Hoeing, and Gilbert Halls on Faculty Road, Fraternity Road and Wilson Boulevard) on the River Campus. At the College Convocation ceremony, held at 5 p.m. on the academic quad, President Joel Seligman and deans from the College will welcome the Class of 2017 to the River Campus.

EASTMAN MOVE-IN: 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 26, Eastman Commons Student Living Center (100 Gibbs Street). At 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Eastman students will socialize at a welcome picnic hosted by various administrators and student leaders.

WHAT: Move-In Day kicks off a weeklong orientation for both campuses, a time for students to explore the campus, learn about extra-curricular activities at the University, and attend luncheons, barbeques, and receptions where they can meet their peers. Classes resume for both Eastman and the River Campus on Tuesday, Sept. 3. For the first time in many years, there will be a bonfire near Sage Arts Center on the River Campus the night before the first day of classes.

ABOUT THE CLASS OF 2017: On the River Campus, the incoming freshmen class includes more than 1,300 students from 49 states and 71 countries, the largest and most diverse class ever. The incoming transfer class includes 100 students. Total undergraduate enrollment for the 2013-2014 academic year on the River Campus is about 4,900 students.

Approximately 166 incoming freshmen will attend the Eastman School of Music for the 2013-2014 academic year, bringing total undergraduate enrollment to around 550 students.
