The unique rock group They Might Be Giants will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, in the Louis Alexander Palestra on the University of Rochester River Campus.

The group is primarily a two-man band, with founding members John Linnell on accordion, keyboards, and vocals, and John Flansburgh on guitar and vocals. Although the group toured for several years as just John and John, backed by synthesizers and tapes, since 1990 the band has been continually adding variety to their sound with the help of various musicians in both their recordings and live performances. This eclectic strategy keeps fans on the edge of their seats, wondering what distinctive sound the band will come up with next.

They Might Be Giants debuted in 1986 with a self-titled album. Since then, the group has produced nine more albums, including the latest, Long Tall Weekend, released in mid-1999 by EMusic. The group has also collaborated with artists such as the Meat Puppets, Gravel Pit, Frank Black, and Suzanne Vega, and is currently working on an album of songs for children and another regular album, Unreliable Narrator, to be released in late 2000.

Tickets are available at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus; at Record Archive, 1394 Mt. Hope Ave.; and Lakeshore Record Exchange, 370 Park Ave. Tickets for the general public are $16 for bleacher seats and $18 for floor seats.
