Dr. Anne Lutkus, language coordinator in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Rochester, has been selected to receive a distinguished teacher award from the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers.

The Ruth E. Wasley Distinguished Teacher Award (Post- Secondary) honors an educator who has demonstrated excellence in the classroom and has contributed greatly to the foreign language profession. The award is named after a former professor of education at SUNY Albany and president of NYSAFLT from 1963 to 1969.

"It feels terrific to receive this award from a group of teachers I have learned a great deal from," Lutkus said.

She will be honored at a ceremony to be held during the Association's annual meeting at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 1995, at the Concord Hotel, Kiamesha Lake, N.Y. The Association consists of approximately 3,000 members.

Lutkus has taught at the University of Rochester since 1978. She is active in the Rochester chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French, has served as co-chair of the post-secondary committee for NYSAFLT since 1988, and has been administrative assistant for the Moliā€šre seminar in Paris.
