The University of Rochester's English department will host a lecture on "Toni Morrison, Literature, and Globalism" by Wahneema Lubiano at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Welles-Brown Room in Rush Rhees Library on the River Campus.

Lubiano, an associate professor of literature at Duke University, researches African American literature, African American popular culture and film, women's studies, black intellectual history, and nationalism.

She is the author of the forthcoming books Messing With the Machine: Politics, Form and African-American Fiction and Like Being Mugged by a Metaphor: "Deep Cover" and Other "Black" Fictions. She has written numerous articles and essays and is editor of The House That Race Built: Black Americans, U.S. Terrain. Lubiano has also appeared on the Australian television program ABC Lateline to discuss the 1992 U.S. presidential elections and the Los Angeles riots following the acquittal of three officers in the beating of Rodney King.
