David E. Lewis, assistant director of telecommunications and networking at the University of Michigan, has been named director of University telecommunications at the University of Rochester.

At Rochester, he reports to the vice provost for computing and is responsible for guiding the University Telecommunications Division in its support of the telecommunications and networking needs of the University.

"David Lewis brings strong technical, customer service, and organizational skill to the directorship," said Edward Titlebaum, vice provost for computing. "I know that his leadership will improve the value of our networking and telecommunications resources here at the University."

Lewis earned his bachelor's and M.B.A. degrees from Eastern Michigan University. Within the University of Michigan's Information Technology Division, he was responsible for managing a $14 million budget and 71 staff in telecommunications and networking services.
