The Black Students' Union of the University of Rochester will mark Kwanzaa with a celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in the May Room of Wilson Commons on the River Campus.

The program will feature a performance by Clyde Morgan, associate professor of dance and director of the Sankofa African Dance and Drum Ensemble at State University of New York College at Brockport. The evening also includes a dinner and a talk by local resident Lawrance Evans on the meaning and principles of Kwanzaa.

Tickets to Kwanzaa are $8 and are available in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons. The event is open to the public. For more information, contact Sharifa Stewart at (585) 274-3040.

Kwanzaa is an African-American celebration of culture, family, and community that starts on Dec. 26 and continues until New Year's Day.
