"Jack Keil/Andy Neilly: Collected Works" will feature 60 watercolor and acrylic paintings by two Rochester alumni whose avocation is art. John M. "Jack" Keil '44 and Andrew H. Neilly '47 have sustained a friendship since their college days and are life trustees of the University. Their travels together serve as the focal point for the exhibit, which includes scenes from Provence in the south of France to trains on American soil.
Keil's love of art lead him to study at the Rockland Center for the Arts in watercolor after his graduation in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He has presented and sold his work in a number of galleries in New York and New England. Many of his pieces are held in private collections. He is a retired advertising executive.
Neilly received a bachelor's degree in English after serving in the military. He studied watercolors and oils at the Silvermine School of Art in Connecticut. Neilly paints regularly and has participated in many group and two solo shows. He is the retired chief executive of the John Wiley & Sons publishing company.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Hartnett Gallery in Wilson Commons. Admission is free. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The exhibit continues through Nov. 9, and is sponsored by Wilson Commons, the Student Activities Office, and the Hartnett Gallery Committee.
