David Hursh, assistant professor at the University of Rochester's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, will lead a delegation of educators interested in school reform to New Zealand this summer.
Two principals and five teachers from Rochester-area schools will accompany Hursh. From July 10 to 23, the group will visit schools, the New Zealand Center for Educational Research, and several universities to learn why New Zealand's education system has produced the most literate population in the world.
Upon their return, the group will create a presentation with slides for local schools. Professor Hursh plans to develop papers on what changes American schools should make to improve pupil achievement.
