Immunizations for Meningococcal Meningitis and flu will be available from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Friel Lounge of the Susan B. Anthony Residence Halls on the University of Rochester's River Campus. The immunization program is sponsored by the University Health Service, which is working with VACCESSHealth, a company that specializes in direct access immunization programs. The fees are $75 for the meningitis vaccine and $15 for the flu shot. Students can charge the cost to their tuition bill. Payment also can be made by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex).

The University Health Service is offering this meningitis immunization clinic due to the increase in the number of cases of meningitis on college campuses in recent years. Students will receive a vaccine that provides protection against four of the five most common strains of meningococcal disease, which together account for nearly 70 percent of meningococcal cases on college campuses.

The flu vaccine also will be available to students, staff, and faculty during this outreach effort.
