The companies will locate in High Tech Rochester\u2019s (HTR) Lennox Tech Enterprise Center in Henrietta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese companies are an example of the START-UP NY program\u2019s potential to keep ideas and new technologies in Rochester and New York State and give them a platform to expand and compete in the marketplace,\u201d said Joel Seligman, president of the University of Rochester. \u201cAs this program begins to gain momentum, we anticipate that more companies will partner with the University and HTR to create new jobs, enhance technology commercialization, and revitalize the upstate economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temida\/eStork<\/strong> is an early-stage software company that provides web-based application that broker transactions between medical supply companies and health care providers, enabling hospital purchasing departments to lower their expenses. The company is a graduate of HTR\u2019s LaunchPad program, which connects teams of software development entrepreneurs with HTR\u2019s mentors, business advisors, and support services. The company is committed to creating 21 new jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FillShift<\/strong> is a newly-created software development company that is developing a web-based application that will enable employers to fill open shifts. The software uses a proprietary algorithm to analyze the company\u2019s existing workforce or identify workers in partner agencies to match workers with the required skills to fill work schedules. The company will help companies minimize overtime costs, avoid temp agency fees, and reduce administrative effort. The company is committed to creating seven new jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Dogways<\/strong> is an emerging early-stage software company that has developed a mobile and web application that allows dog owners to find activities for their dogs \u2013 such as a dog walk or a get together at a dog park \u2013 through a personalized event calendar and activity feed. The application allows individuals or businesses to create an event and invite friends or other users based upon their location. The company is a graduate of the HTR LaunchPad program and is committing to create 31 new jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/startup.ny.gov\/\">START-UP NY initiative<\/a> \u2013 created by Governor Cuomo and approved by the New York State legislature in June 2013 \u2013 provides participating companies with tax exemptions for 10 years when they locate in designated areas associated with colleges and universities and align with a school&#8217;s core academic mission.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the New York State START-UP NY program board approved the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/startup-ny\/\">University of Rochester\u2019s plan<\/a> to designate 105,894 square feet of tax free space at HTR\u2019s Lennox Tech Enterprise Center in Henrietta and buildings 59 and 320 in Eastman Business Park. \u00a0HTR is an affiliate of the University of Rochester.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The START-UP NY initiative provides
