Excellus BlueCross BlueShield announced Wednesday it has been the target of a cyberattack in which attackers may have gained access to approximately 7 million individuals\u2019 personal information. Excellus is working with the FBI to investigate and understand the full impact of this cyberattack. Excellus is one of the administrators of the health care plans provided to University employees, as well as the administrator of the dental plan, so you should be aware of the potential impact to you.<\/p>\n

Excellus has established a dedicated website<\/span><\/a><\/strong> with more information about the breach and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>section. There is also a toll free number that you can call (1-877-589-3331) for further information relating to this incident. Excellus is beginning to mail letters to affected individuals this week and is offering to provide two years of free identity theft protection services.<\/p>\n

The University of Rochester Human Resources Department is working closely with Excellus to monitor the situation.<\/p>\n
