{"id":221212,"date":"2017-02-23T13:46:22","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T18:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/?p=221212"},"modified":"2017-02-24T15:02:29","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T20:02:29","slug":"upstate-new-york-i-corps-node-launches-innovation-website-resource","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/upstate-new-york-i-corps-node-launches-innovation-website-resource\/","title":{"rendered":"Upstate New York I-Corps Node launches online innovation resource"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/nodelogo-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-221282\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/nodelogo-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a>The Upstate New York I-Corps Node (UNY I-Corps) launched its new website\u2013 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unyicorps.org\">www.unyicorps.org<\/a><\/strong>\u2013providing researchers with the opportunity to combine their strong technical and scientific knowledge with an entrepreneurial mindset, with the goal of discovering new technologies that can be developed for market.<\/p>\n<p>UNY I-Corps\u2013created by a partnership between the University of Rochester, Cornell University, and Rochester Institute of Technology\u2013serves the Northeastern region and leverages New York\u2019s robust academic and industrial resources.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to prepare participants to innovate and create beyond the academic sphere, the Upstate New York Node provides targeted curriculum and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs. Currently, eight teams are engaged in a short course that will take them through the process of customer discovery and validating a business model. Short courses provide researchers with a way to get involved in the I-Corps network, and registration for the March 2017 Short Course is now open at unyicorps.org.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the UNY I-Corps Node will recommend 20-30 teams to the National NSF program, where participants can receive $50K in NSF funding and other opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>UNY I-Corps is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/venturewell.org\/i-corps\/nin\/\">National Innovation Network (NIN)<\/a>, a national network of NSF-funded researchers from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/news\/special_reports\/i-corps\/teams.jsp\">I-Corps Teams<\/a>, Sites, and Nodes. Working together, this network of thinkers addresses America\u2019s needs for innovation education, infrastructure, and research.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_221852\"
