Since 2008, the University has teamed up with the City of Rochester and several banks\/credit unions to offer regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff $9,000 toward the purchase of a primary residence in the University\u2019s historic surrounding neighborhoods. Now, the University Home Ownership Incentive Program is growing to assist employees in buying a house in three additional Rochester areas: Beechwood, EMMA (East Main, Mustard & Atlantic Avenue), and Marketview Heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome this opportunity to support our employees who live near our University and in neighborhoods that we are supporting as part of a community-wide revitalization effort,\u201d said University President and CEO Joel Seligman. \u201cThis is an important way to support the City of Rochester.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Beechwood, EMMA, and Marketview Heights neighborhoods were selected to join the program based the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative\u2019s focus on improving these historic districts, as well as the University\u2019s connection to East High, which serves students in these areas.<\/p>\n

The University Home Ownership Incentive Program provides qualifying new homeowners with $3,000 from the University, $3,000 from the City, and $3,000 from a bank or credit union participating in the program. In addition to the three newly added areas, the program continues to serve its original neighborhoods\u201419th Ward; Genesee Jefferson; Plymouth Exchange; Mayor\u2019s Heights and Bulls Head (formerly Sector 4); Upper Mount Hope; Swillburg; South Wedge and Highland Park (formerly Sector 6); and Greig Square at Corn Hill.<\/p>\n

There are no minimum or maximum income requirements, but the plan requires five-year occupancy and employment commitments from the buyer.<\/p>\n
