A record 27 University of Rochester students and recent alumni have been named semifinalists in the prestigious\u00a0Fulbright US Student Grant Program<\/strong><\/a>, the government\u2019s flagship international educational exchange program. The program is sponsored by the State Department and offers opportunities to pursue advanced studies, conduct research, and teach English language and American culture abroad.<\/p>\n

Final award offers will be announced on a country-by-country basis over the next few months. This year\u2019s semifinalists include 23 from the College<\/a> and four from the Eastman School of Music<\/a>. Thirty-seven candidates applied through Fulbright review committees on the River Campus and at Eastman.<\/p>\n

Rochester has been recognized as a top producer of Fulbright student grant awardees three times in the past five years.<\/p>\n

Here are the semifinalists, with name, major, country of application, and type of grant sought. Two semifinalists have requested that their names not be published at this time:<\/p>\n
