Second Lecture in the Catholic Newman Community\u2019s Faith in America Series, Marking the 50th Anniversary of Catholic Chaplaincy at the University of Rochester<\/i><\/p>\n

WHAT:<\/b>\u00a0Rev. Thomas M. Rosica will speak about the momentous transition in the papacy one year ago, and how Pope Benedict\u2019s decision to resign and Pope Francis\u2019 boldness and courageous leadership, have changed the Church in remarkable ways.<\/p>\n

Following the announcement on February 11, 2013 that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI would resign from the papacy, Fr. Thomas Rosica was invited by the Vatican to join the staff of the Holy See Press Office and serve as one of the official spokespersons for the transition in the papacy that included the resignation, Conclave and election of the new pope. His front-row seat for this historical moment in the Church gives him a unique story to share about the papacy in the modern world.<\/p>\n

TIME, DATE, PLACE:<\/b>\u00a07:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, at the\u00a0Interfaith Chapel<\/a>\u00a0on the University of Rochester\u2019s River Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public; visitors to the River Campus can park for free in most lots after 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

ABOUT REV. THOMAS M. ROSICA:<\/b>\u00a0Ordained a priest in the Congregation of St. Basil in 1986 by Bishop Matthew Clark, Fr. Thomas Rosica, a native of Rochester, New York holds advanced degrees in Theology and Sacred Scripture from Toronto, Rome and Jerusalem. Following his leadership of World Youth Day 2002 in Canada, he became the founding CEO of Canada\u2019s Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation and Television Network. Fr. Rosica served as Media Attach\u00e9 at two Synods of Bishops at the Vatican in 2008 and 2012 and last February and March served as English language spokesperson for the Vatican during the Papal transition. He also is President of Assumption University in Windsor, Ontario. He continues to serve as English language Assistant to the Holy See Press Office.<\/p>\n
