The University of Rochester\u2019s\u00a0Mt. Hope Family Center<\/a> has been awarded a multimillion-dollar grant renewal from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the\u00a0TRANSFORM Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n TRANSFORM (T<\/strong>ranslational\u00a0R<\/strong>esearch that\u00a0A<\/strong>dapts\u00a0N<\/strong>ew\u00a0S<\/strong>cience\u00a0FOR M<\/strong>altreatment) is a national resource center that conducts research, disseminates discoveries and builds on research and best practices to help train the next generation of interdisciplinary professionals committed to preventing and addressing child abuse and neglect.<\/p>\n The $8.5 million award, paid out over the course of five years, will allow a continuation of the work that began in 2018 when the multidisciplinary team\u00a0received an initial $8.39 million grant<\/a>\u00a0from the NIH\u2019s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to create a\u00a0Capstone Center on Child Abuse and Neglect<\/a>\u00a0as a national resource for child maltreatment research and training.<\/p>\n The grant renewal makes Rochester<\/a> one of only three academic institutional partnerships in the United States to receive this prestigious award.<\/p>\n For Rochester the funding will support inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations across several University and Medical Center departments and community outreach centers: researchers from the University\u2019s Mt. Hope Family Center will work alongside colleagues in the\u00a0Department of Psychology<\/a>,\u00a0Susan B. Anthony Center<\/a>,\u00a0School of Nursing<\/a>, as well as the Medical Center\u2019s departments of\u00a0Psychiatry<\/a>,\u00a0Pediatrics<\/a>,\u00a0Obstetrics and Gynecology<\/a>, and the\u00a0Laboratory of Interpersonal Violence and Victimization<\/a>.<\/p>\n
