Julie Myers<\/a>, vice president of information technology<\/a> and chief information officer (CIO) at the University of Rochester<\/a>, has been named TechRochester<\/a>\u2019s 2023 Technology Woman of the Year<\/a>. The award recognizes, celebrates, and makes visible the achievements of women in high-technology fields. Nominees are women who excel in a variety of fields, from software engineering to cybersecurity to data analysis and more.<\/p>\n

As vice president and CIO, Myers is responsible for ensuring that information technology services align with the institution\u2019s missions of teaching, research, patient care, performance, and community service. This includes building collaborative relationships across the institution to support efficient and cost-effective distribution of information throughout the University community. Myers oversees the University\u2019s central IT organization and the Center for Integrated Research Computing<\/a>; she also provides University-wide governance and leadership for the extensive and diverse enterprise-wide technology initiatives and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Prior to being named vice president and CIO in 2021, Myers was the deputy CIO and responsible for the strategy for enterprise governance, major systems implementations, University reporting and analytics, and the Project Management Office. She joined the University of Rochester in 2006 and has 38 years of experience in information technology, project management, strategic planning, IT governance, and IT management processes. She has led IT teams responsible for supply chain, purchasing, security, architecture, advancement, and finance.<\/p>\n

Myers earned an executive MBA from the Simon Business School<\/a> and a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration and management information systems from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a member of various local and national IT-centric and women-based organizations and committees, mentors IT professional and students, and serves on the board of directors for NYSERNet.<\/p>\n

TechRochester\u2019s mission is to help drive economic growth in the region\u2019s technology community through education and relationship development. The organization comprises professionals and companies that are working together to strengthen the Greater Rochester Area\u2019s technology community through the development and sponsorship of relevant events and stimulating programs focused on skill-building and the cultivation of individual and business relationships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
