Sonya Maria Hadrigan has been appointed as the University of Rochester<\/a>\u2019s inaugural associate vice president for research integrity, following a national search conducted with the assistance of Opus Partners. In\u00a0this\u00a0new position,\u00a0she will oversee compliance with federal regulatory requirements related to research.<\/p>\n

Reporting to Stephen Dewhurst, University vice president for research<\/a>, Hadrigan will be responsible for the planning, implemention, monitoring of, and compliance with regulations regarding research misconduct and conflicts of interest, and safeguarding integrity across the University\u2019s research enterprise.<\/p>\n

She begins her appointment on April 1.<\/p>\n

Hadrigan comes to Rochester from George Washington University, where she has been the associate provost for research integrity and compliance for the past two years.<\/p>\n

\u201cSonya\u2019s wealth of experience across a broad range of research domains, track record of both leadership and collaboration, and meticulous attention to detail make her the perfect fit for this important role at a critical juncture for research here and across the higher education landscape,\u201d Dewhurst says. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled that she\u2019s joining our research family, and I very much look forward to partnering with her to further enhance Rochester\u2019s research culture and its reputation as one of the country\u2019s leading research universities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hadrigan brings extensive regulatory knowledge to her new role. Prior to her time at GW, Hadrigan oversaw research protections at the Houston Methodist Research Institute, directed the human research protection program at Inova Health System in Virginia, headed the clinical research unit at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami\u2019s Miller School of Medicine, and led the clinical vaccine center at Rockefeller University. Earlier in her career, she was also the assistant director of research compliance at the City University of New York.<\/p>\n

Hadrigan holds master\u2019s degrees in legal studies and nursing from Texas A&M University and the University of Miami, respectively, and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and biology from the University of Miami and State University of New York at Stony Brook, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
