That makes it the most chillin\u2019 month in the National Weather Service\u2019s record books\u2014and those things date back to 1884!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith temps in the balmy single digits and roughly six feet of snow at any given time, I had my mom FedEx my summer wardrobe to me,\u201d Lerner explained. \u201cI mean, who knows when we\u2019ll get weather this nice again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In answer to such concerns, the University is creating snow on campus year-round. That way, Rochester students can enjoy upstate New York\u2019s famous refreshing clime during both of its seasons.<br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\" \/><br \/>\nIn fact, UR students are so heartened by the current weather that they started a petition to close the tunnel system that runs under the Eastman Quad.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95762\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95762\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-95762\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/april-fools-balcony.jpg\" alt=\"two students wearing snow shows read on the Rush Rhees Library balcony\" width=\"500\" height=\"278\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95762\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Another day in paradise: Shane Saxton \u201915 and Kathryn Loveless \u201915 relax on the Rush Rhees Library balcony.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no point in heating those subterranean passageways,\u201d remarks senior Jerry McCoy. \u201cNot when my philosophy professor has been holding lectures out on the quad since February.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Strapping on his snowshoes before venturing out, McCoy adds, \u201cAnd anyway, most of us have already mastered walking like a penguin.
