Welcome back to a new academic year

Dear University of Rochester Community,

As we step into the vibrant energy of a new academic year, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome back to each of you—students, faculty, staff, and community partners. The fall semester always brings with it a sense of renewal, a fresh start filled with promise, purpose, and possibility.

This year, we begin with a renewed identity. Our office has officially adopted a new name: the University Office of Engagement and Enrichment. This change reflects our evolving mission to foster deeper connections across campus and within the Rochester community, while enriching the experiences of all who learn and work here. It’s more than a name—it’s a commitment to growth, inclusion, and innovation.

We are living in a time of great change. While the world around us continues to shift in complex ways, our work remains rooted in hope and action. As the great poet and activist Maya Angelou once said, “Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space. Invite one to stay.” Let us choose hope—boldly and intentionally—as we shape the future together. As we move forward, let’s stay focused and continue the meaningful work that defines our mission. Whether it’s supporting students, empowering educators, or building bridges in our community, our collective efforts matter. Every conversation, every initiative, every act of service contributes to a stronger, more connected University of Rochester.

I look forward to what the future brings for our department. My door is always open to your ideas, your feedback, and your vision. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, our colleagues, our educators, and the greater Rochester community.

Here’s to a year of engagement, enrichment, and endless possibility.

Warmly,
Dr. Adrienne Morgan
Vice President, University Office of Engagement and Enrichment
