Community-based participatory research (CBPR) is a historic strength of the URMC and is a critical tool for the improvement of translational research and population health. Review the Guiding Principles of Community-Engaged Research<\/strong><\/a>. The principles were developed in 2008 by the University of Rochester Medical Center\u2019s Community Advisory Council. Community-Engaged Research <\/strong><\/h3>","content":"CBPR is one type of Community-Engaged Research. \u00a0There are many ways in which researchers may work with community partners as part of a research project. \u00a0In most cases, these community partners are not affiliated with an IRB which requires additional considerations and responsibilities for the URochester PI.\r\n\r\nThe Reliance Consultation Process can be used to determine if the community partners will require the University of Rochester IRB to act as the IRB for the community partners. \u00a0Information about this process can be found on the page URochester as IRB for Others<\/a>.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the following guidance documents can assist researchers with the protocol and IRB application planning when working with community partners:\r\n
