Meliora Weekend 2016 Is Just Around the Corner

There is still time to register for Meliora Weekend, October 6 to 9. Enjoy annual traditions like Miller’s Court, along with new experiences at the Campaign Celebration BBQ with live music by Provost Rob Clark’s band, You Don’t Know Jack, and the Meliora Village. All University Campuses to Become Tobacco-Free

University President and CEO Joel Seligman has announced that beginning in July 2017 all of the University’s campuses and locations will become tobacco-free both inside and outside campus buildings. A new University policy will reflect the change, which applies to the River Campus, the Eastman School of Music, and all other University properties, including the Medical Center, which has been smoke-free indoors and outdoors since 2006. Education Abroad Global Fair

The Center for Education Abroad is hosting its annual Global Fair on Friday, October 28. The Global Fair is designed to help students learn more about opportunities abroad and how going abroad might fit into their education at the University. Faculty, staff, student returnees, and representatives of programs abroad will be available to speak with students. The center encourages all students to attend, especially freshmen and sophomores, as early planning is key in going abroad. Outstanding Balances Are Due

The Bursar’s Office reminds students that all past due balances must be paid in order to register for spring 2017. The billing statement is available in UR ePAY. For more information, contact the Bursar’s Office at (585) 275-3931.

Student Health 101

Check out Student Health 101, University Health Service’s monthly online health and wellness magazine. The September issue includes articles on fall fitness ideas, on-the-go breakfast recipes, and helping students “own their awesome.”

Flu Vaccine Clinic Is October 13

University Health Service will hold a River Campus flu vaccine clinic for all students, staff, and faculty from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, October 13, in Goergen Athletic Center. No appointment is needed. Everyone is asked to bring their insurance card. The cost for the flu shot will be billed to the individual’s insurance plan. If not covered by insurance, the cost will be billed to the student’s tuition billing statement. Students with high-risk health conditions and those who will not be on campus on October 13 can receive flu shots at UHS by appointment. A flu vaccine clinic will be held in the Cominsky Lounge at the Eastman School of Music from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27.

Sigma Delta Tau sorority can help make your student’s birthday special by delivering a birthday cake to his or her residence hall, accompanied by a message from home. Email for an order form.

Financial Aid News

The Financial Aid Office publishes a newsletter at the beginning of each semester, and the fall 2016 edition is now available. Learn about the Early FAFSA, outside scholarships, the Fellowships Office, financial literacy, and the office’s new director, Sam Veeder.

Class of 2020 Settles in

More than 1,300 freshmen from 49 states and 90 countries moved in to their new homes on the River Campus and at the Eastman School of Music. See photos and a video from Move-in Day. Freshmen also participated in the annual Wilson Day community service event.
