Centralized vehicle decision making follows a fleet master plan and allows the University to forecast future purchases, re-purpose assets and maximize vehicle life.<\/p>\n<p>University Facilities and Services (UF&amp;S), in conjunction with University Procurement, oversees and manages the University Fleet acquisition program. In addition, UF&amp;S operates the University&#8217;s Auto Shop.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4\">Program Benefits<\/h2>\n<p>The new fleet program provides considerable advantages for its customers and for the University overall. Benefits include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"larger\">\n<li>routine and preventative maintenance services completed by the University Auto Shop<\/li>\n<li>installation of an all-inclusive vehicle management software program that promotes driver safety<\/li>\n<li>positive impacts to the University&#8217;s carbon footprint<\/li>\n<li>vehicle standardization<\/li>\n<li>streamlined branding<\/li>\n<li>improvements to purchasing strategy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4\">Preventive Maintenance<\/h2>\n<p>Standard preventative maintenance performed by the University&#8217;s Auto Shop helps ensure our vehicles are properly maintained, maximizing their useful life as well as their end-of-life value. The University Auto Shop has a labor rate that averages 20% lower than outside repair shops which also reduces University expenses.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4\">Fleetistics<\/h2>\n<p>All University drivers are required to enroll in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/parking\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SaferDriverProgram_07.13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Safer Driver Program. <\/a><span style=\"color: #283faf;\">\u00a0<a id=\"pdf-warning1\" class=\"link\" style=\"color: #283faf;\" title=\"Brochure describing Fleetistics software in PDF format.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facilities.rochester.edu\/support_ops\/fleet\/doc\/fleetistics_brochure.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-describedby=\"pdf-warning1\">Fleetistics<\/a><\/span>, a vehicle management software program, is installed in every vehicle. Fleetistics provides numerous safety features including instant accident notification and a driver safety scorecard that provides data regarding speed, braking, and seat belt use.
