The purpose of the probationary period is to provide supervisors the opportunity to evaluate a new or transferred employee’s ability to acclimate to the organization’s culture, to assess general working habits (punctuality, attendance, working relationships, etc.) and to evaluate the employee’s ability to meet performance standards.
The University is committed to the development and maintenance of a drug-free environment, and will not tolerate the unlawful possession and use of controlled substances (drugs) on its premises. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in and on property owned or controlled by the University.
When any University business transaction under consideration presents the potential for a conflict of interest, or the appearance of one, the faculty or staff member concerned shall not be involved in the transaction, and the University shall act in accordance with the following guidelines and procedures.
The Short-Term Disability pays all or part of basic salary for an eligible individual who is absent from work for a period exceeding 7 calendar days due to an illness or disability that is not related to the job and which prevents the individual from performing University duties and responsibilities.
The intent of the PTO plan is to recognize an eligible employee's need to have time away from work for reasons such as illness or injury, doctor or dental appointments and to attend to personal business, and to provide the staff member with flexibility and tangible reward for time unused at the end of each Plan Year.
Staff members are entitled to time off without loss of base pay for each working day excused to 1) serve on jury duty or 2) when subpoenaed to appear in a court of law, except when the staff member is a primary party to the legal action or a prospective beneficiary of it.
The University's Benefits Program provides nine University paid holidays per year. Each holiday equals one-fifth of the individual’s standard weekly work hours.
