Daan Braveman ’69 is moving a little closer
to his alma mater this summer as he takes over as president of Nazareth College
of Rochester.
Braveman, a professor of law and former dean of Syracuse University’s
College of Law, was named last winter to lead the 81-year-old institution, an
appointment that takes effect in July.
“I feel fortunate because things going on here are exciting and important,”
Braveman told reporters after he was introduced to students, faculty, and staff
last winter.
Braveman, whose son, Adam, is a member of Rochester’s Class of ’05,
earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and joined the faculty
of Syracuse in 1977. He served as law dean from 1984 until 2002. Last winter,
he was named a College of Law Board of Advisors’ Professor at Syracuse.
Founded in 1924, Nazareth enrolled more than 1,800 full-time undergraduates
last fall on its roughly 150-acre campus along East Avenue near the village
of Pittsford.
