“If
anything, I was one of the more prepared students, because of the
teachers and mentors I had who are Rochester alumni, and it still
was a shock—getting adjusted to the kind of work, the expectations,
and the culture here. In high school everything was so easy—you’re
a big fish in a little pond, but here it’s a totally different
thing. In the first semester of my sophomore year I ended up doing
really poorly—I had a GPA of 1.4, and I had to talk with my
counselors here and use the resources available. The good part was
I knew how to use those resources, but the bad part was it took
me two semesters to figure that out.” |
