Clifford Swartz (PhD) (see ’45 undergraduate).

1969

Girish Agarwal (PhD) was appointed Regents Professor by the Oklahoma State University A&M Board of Regents. Girish is a professor of physics at the university.

1970

Sheng-Cheng Hu (PhD) has been named head of the Financial Supervisory Commission in Taiwan. He has been the government’s top economic planner since 2004. . . . Ari Requicha (PhD) writes that he received the Senior Research Award from the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California during the school’s 100th anniversary. The award recognizes his work in nanorobotics over the last decade. Ari holds the Gordon Marshall Chair in engineering and is a professor in the departments of computer science and electrical engineering at USC. He also was recently appointed editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology, the premier engineering journal on nanotechnology.

Marjorie Chiafrey W (MA) was named 2007 Superintendent of the Year by the New Hampshire School Administrators Association.

1976

Mara Sapon-Shevin W (EdD) (see ’72 undergraduate). . . . Dave Souerwine S (MBA) is president of McKesson Automation, a division of Fortune 16 McKesson Corp. Dave writes that McKesson Automation, which has grown to 1,100 employees, won a 2006 Manufacturer of the Year after doubling its top-line revenues and gaining a significant share in the market. Sara Varhus (PhD) has been named vice president of academic affairs at Nazareth College in Pittsford, N.Y. She will oversee the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Schools of Education, Health and Human Services, and Management.

1981

Diane Zompa (PhD) has been appointed to the Pennington Borough Council in New Jersey. She is the state’s deputy executive director of employment and training.

1984

Jesse Grissom S (MBA) has been named vice president for finance at Kao Brands Co. in Cincinnati, where he is responsible for global finance operations throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

1986

Raymond Lloyd Richmond W (MS) published two books: Anger and Forgiveness and Healing: Emotional Hurt and Giving the Pain to God (TradeMark Publishing).

1988

Sami Abbasi S (MBA) is chairman and CEO of National Surgical Care, which develops and operates surgical facilities in partnership with physicians and health care systems nationwide. . . . Gerard Michel S (MBA) ’88M (MS) (see ’85 undergraduate).

1990

Tammy Hall S (MBA), a manager of enterprise support at Paychex in Rochester, was named one of the Rochester Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” business leaders for 2006. . . . Lorna Cialdella Morehead S (MBA) (see ’86 undergraduate).

Christopher Rossi S (MBA) has been named executive vice president for product services worldwide at Dresser-Rand Group.

Diane Dalecki (PhD) (see ’83 undergraduate). . . . Sandra Kinel W (MA) has been promoted to assistant professor of business administration and economics at Monroe Community College.

2000

Marylne Gagn (PhD) was awarded a Concordia University Research Award to do further research on applying motivation theory to the field of management. . . . Gregg Lederman S (MBA), a managing partner at Brand Integrity and an adjunct professor at the Simon School, was named one of the Rochester Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” business leaders for 2006.

2006

John Sutton (PhD) writes that his first book was published in 2006. The Dicts and Sayings of the Philosophers (Medieval Institute Publications), a volume in the Middle English Texts series, is “an edition of a 15th-century Middle English compendium of proverbs and lore attributed to various historical and mythological sages.”
